WSP seeks witnesses to serious injury accident on I-90
GEORGE, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol is looking for witnesses who may have seen an accident on Interstate 90 that seriously injured a Woodinville woman on Saturday.
An investigation found that a 2005 Chevy Suburban was legally parked on the right side, eastbound shoulder of I-90 near the Columbia River bridge just after 1 p.m. when a metal bar and awning from a passing RV came loose and went through the back window of the Suburban.
Two of the Suburban’s occupants were injured, including a Woodinsville woman who suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. A 21-year-old man from North Bend was taken to Quincy Valley Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the RV continued east on I-90 and may have been unaware of the incident. Strong crosswinds may have been a factor in the accident, the State Patrol said.
The SUV's driver, a 21-year-old woman from Woodinville, was not injured. She was able to drive the Suburban away from the scene.
WSP had no description of the vehicle that was pulling the trailer.
Anyone with information about the accident - or who knows someone who does - is asked to contact Sgt. Elizabeth Bigger at 509-750-4560.
