Some good news: 2 Richland schools recognized for student achievement

RICHLAND SCHOOLS NEWS RELEASE -- Lewis & Clark Elementary School and Sacajawea Elementary School have been recognized as Title I “Reward Schools” by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Rewards Schools are the top achieving Title I schools in the state. Only 58 schools achieved this status in 2012.
Lewis & Clark has been designated a Rewards High Performing School for meeting Adequate Yearly Progress in both reading and math for the past three years. Sacajawea has been designated a Rewards High Progress School for being in the top 10 percent in reading and math combined for the past three years.
“I congratulate the entire staffs of Lewis & Clark and Sacajawea for developing and implementing instructional strategies that are making a difference for students,” stated Jim Busey, Superintendent of the Richland School District. “Their dedication and hard work each and every day has resulted in this well-deserved recognition.”
** Title I provides extra instructional services to support students identified as failing or most at risk of failing the state’s challenging performance standards in mathematics and reading. The program serves students in schools which have demonstrated that extra assistance is needed.
