WALLA WALLA - It's a partnership that's saving several school districts thousands of dollars. A co-op offers repair and fuel discounts for school buses.

The partnership in Walla Walla saves the district $10,000 a school year. Dixie and Prescott also take part. Repair rates are cut in half. Diesel costs are knocked down 20 cents a gallon.

Officials tell KEPR the savings help cut overall operating costs.

"Well, any time you can cut down on your operating cost for a school district, that means you have more money to apply to the classroom. It really helps the overall system and our district to operate more efficiently and more effectively," said Walla Walla School District Communications Director Mark Higgins.

Repairs are made on a preventative schedule to minimize emergency fixes.
