RICHLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS RELEASE -- The Richland School District tonight (Tuesday) awarded the general contractor bid for the new Lewis & Clark Elementary School to Fowler General Construction, Richland. Fowler’s bid of $15.55 million was the lowest of five bids submitted. The new school will replace the existing Lewis & Clark which opened in 1971.

Fowler is the general contractor for the Pasco School District’s elementary school #13 which is currently under construction. Other recent Fowler projects are Olds Junior High School in Connell, and ARC of Tri-Cities in Richland.

“This bid result is positive,” said Superintendent Rick Schulte. “Fowler has an excellent track record of quality construction work.”

The new Lewis & Clark will be built on the playfield just to the east of the existing school.  It will open in August 2015. After the new school opens, the old Lewis & Clark will be demolished and replaced with a new playfield area.

District residents approved a bond issue for the new Lewis & Clark and eight other projects in February 2013.  Details on the projects are available at: www.rsd.edu/about/2013-bond-issue.html
