Remembering Dad: Dylan Covert

Remembering Dad: Dylan Covert
WEST RICHLAND, Wash. -- It's not the way he died, but what he did that should be remembered. On Wednesday, 15-year-old Dylan Covert reached out to KEPR wanting to share the story of Tuesday night's horrific car crash that took his dad's life. Steven Covert, 50, of West Richland, died in his son's arms after their car was hit near Van Giesen Street.

The two were on their way home from Dylan's wrestling practice and had just two miles to go. It was around the Kingston curve, when Natalie Lincoln, 33, lost control of her car, hitting the Covert's and another car.

Steven Covert died at the hospital. Dylan escaped with only cuts and bruises.

Dylan told KEPR it's hard to comprehend. “He would be there for us no matter what," he said. “He was the best dad.”

The accident is under investigation. It's unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

Steven Covert's funeral will be held at 1:00pm on Friday at St. Patrick’s in Pasco. Flowers and cards can be sent to Einan's Funeral Home.
