KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Some good news for you! A kindergarten readiness program will get a boost to buy books.

The "Ready for Kindergarten" program is expanding. A $2.8 million grant from the Department of Education will allow READY to provide books for families with kids ages three and up. The books will mostly be purchased for under-privileged families.

Outreach Coordinator, Dena Lodahl, explains, "An average family has one or two books were giving them eight in one summer."

This grant won't include enough money to bring back the Dolly Parton Imagination Library which was faded out locally a couple years ago.
