Pump problems plague Horn Rapids

HORN RAPIDS, Wash. -- A housing community in Horn Rapids lost irrigation water for a couple weeks over the summer after a pump was wiped out by the river.

But it won't get a separate pump to be assured it won't happen again.

Getting water to farms was the top priority during the outage.

For the permanent fix neighbors in north Richland hoped the city would buy a separate pump just for the homes.

The city said it was just too expensive and opted for more protection to the pump instead.
