State patrol silences strange device found in tree

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- State patrol has silenced a strange beeping device found in a tree on Bryant Avenue in Walla Walla. Troopers thought it was an explosive.
The bomb squad took out the six-inch piece of plastic with wires jutting out.
Police said it posed no threat but had been expertly fashioned to look like a pipe-bomb.
Officers found the device this afternoon and evacuated nearby homes.
Bryant Avenue is back open after being closed for several hours while crews handled the response.
