Police: Officer shoots at suspect who pointed a gun at him

SUNNYSIDE, Wash -- Sunnyside Police opened fire on a car after they say the driver pointed a gun at them. Now, the driver is on the run.

Investigators are looking for 27-year-old Marcus Torres. If you recognize him call police.

The shooting happened around noon on South Eleventh Street in Sunnyside after officers tried to stop a car for a traffic violation.

Police say the Torres pointed a gun and the officer fired one round.
 

Investigators say no officers were hurt.

"Our officer shot at him," said Sunnyside Police Deputy Chief Phil Schenck. "At this point we have the individuals from the vehicle in custody, but we are looking for the shooter."

All eight schools in Sunnyside were put into lockdown today because of it.

State patrol is now handling the investigation.
