Police: Man left dog in 117 degree vehicle

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A man from Idleyld Pak was arrested Wednesday, after police say he left a dog in a hot vehicle.

Officers were called to the 1300 block of NE Stephens around 1:15 pm for a report of a dog in distress.

Police say they found a dog inside a 1999 Dodge Caravan.

Authorities say the investigation found that the tempurature inside the vehicle was over 117 degrees.

The owner of the vehicle, Michael Leland Williams, 57, returned to the car and was arrested without incident.

Police say that he was cited for second degree animal neglect and released at the scene.

Authorities say the dog lived, and went home with the owner.
