Police: Man arrested for impersonating firefighter, assaulting a child
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Kennewick Police arrested a man for assaulting a child and impersonating a public official Saturday in a Walmart parking lot.

Police said the man went up to a car door and knocked on the window. Three children were inside the running car including a 13-year-old.

The 45-year-old man identified himself as a firefighter and told the children their mom could be arrested for leaving them alone in the car, according to police.

They said Christopher Olson escorted the children into the store as the 13-year-old called his mother.

Police said the mother met Olson and her children at the entrance. She grabbed her kids, got into the car and called Kennewick Police.

Police discovered Olson was drunk off nine cans of hard lemonade. He reportedly told police he didn't call police because he didn't want them involved.

The victim said Olson was recording the entire incident on his cell phone.

He was booked and charged with assault of a child and impersonating a public official.
