Police: 2 Richland boys hit by car in crosswalk
RICHLAND, Wash. -- Two 17-year-old boys were hit by a car Thursday morning while on their way to Richland High School, police said.

It happened around 6:45 a.m. in front of Chief Joseph Middle School. Police said 42-year-old Juan Ramirez of Richland didn't see the two boys at first. One of the boys was hit at his feet. The other went up onto the hood and windshield of the car.

Both boys were taken to Kadlec Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said speed was not a factor. Road conditions, darkness and inattentive driving all contributed to the crash, they said.

Police will continue to investigate. No citations were issued.
