Aggressive Goats
In this July 2008 photo, one of some 300 mountain goats in Olympic National Park faces a photographer on the Switchback Trail in the Klahhane-Hurricane Ridge-Switchback Trail area near Port Angeles, Wash. A mountain goat fatally gored a hiker two years later on the same trail. Forest Service officials announced Tuesday, July 3, 2012, that Olympic National Forest has closed a trail near Hoodsport for two weeks because of aggressive mountain goats. The forest says there were several encounters this week with aggressive goats on the Mount Ellinor Trail, 18 miles northwest of Hoodsport.
