KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Kennewick Police are honoring Officer Allan Knox for his 28 years of service. Officer Knox celebrated his transition into retirement Friday.

He's worked as an officer and detective during his time with KPD. Dozens of people were there to recognize him. Officer Knox was a coordinator for the Crime Resistant Community program. He also oversaw the Sex Offender Tracking program for Kennewick.

He's sentimental about the change.

"It's been a fantastic job. I had no idea what I was getting into when I started, and I've loved it from day one. You get to have an effect on people's lives, you see different parts of life that most people don't get to see," said Kennewick Police Officer Allan Knox.

KPD says they'll miss his positive attitude and hard work.
