RICHLAND, Wash. - Even in triple digit weather one of the biggest attractions is Badger Mountain, but Richland staff say there are more hikers than there are parking lots.

On average, 45-plus cars park along Queensgate drive per day, causing safety issues and frustration from nearby residents. Staff say they want to create a four-tier gravel based parking structure, there is currently two-tiers. Preliminary estimates from park staff say the project could cost $40,000, but hikers say it is worth the investment.

"I would think so, just investing to encourage the community to come out and just invest in the community, yes," said hiker, Isabel Maus.

Staff have already held one public comment, hey would like to start adding more parking by the fall.
