More conventions = more road repairs in the Tri-Cities
TRI-CITIES, Wash. -- Events are coming in by the droves to the Convention Center in Kennewick.

A record $32 million will be generated from local conventions this year.

A quarter of that money will be poured into the general fund for things like road repairs.

It means potholes and cracks could be fixed much faster around town.

"It reduces the tax burden for our local citizens," says Kimberly Shugart, of the Tri-Cities Convention Center. "People come in, they spend money, they go back home, but they leave their money here, so it benefits all our citizens"

More than $300 million will come from tourists visiting our area.

Of that total $30 million will be kept here in the Tri-Cities.
