RICHLAND, Wash. - After two years in the making, Lourdes Counseling Center opened up its brand new $2.1 million Transitions facility today.

Located in Richland off Carondelet Drive, the center is designed to treat those suffering with long term illness issues. It's the only facility of its kind in southeastern Washington. The facility has 16 private rooms for patients. Experts say the new facility will help alleviate some congestion in hospital emergency rooms around the community.

Will also work with the local police and sheriffs offices to bring our chronically mentally ill patients, who sometimes use bad judgement, there are many people in our community who are highly vulnerable and there needs must be addressed" said Barbara Mead of Lourdes Health Network.

The center is now open.
