The East Oregonian newspaper reports that the attorney for Maurilio Lamas Sanchez told Judge Christopher Brauer on Monday that his client was ready to accept an offer from the state.
A change-of-plea hearing has been set for Oct. 28. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Sanchez was charged with murder after his wife, Hilaria Sanchez, was found dead in their mobile home in October 2010.
Police say Sanchez smashed a wine bottle over his wife's head, stabbed her in the chest and used a bandanna to choke her.
The couple had been married for about 20 years and had seven children.
