UMATILLA COUNTY, Ore. -- Bail has been set at $3 million for the man blamed for the death of a 7-year-old girl in a traffic crash near Hermiston.

Jesus Moras Nava appeared in court Friday over video from jail. He was arraigned on charges that include manslaughter.

Nava's case will be presented to a grand jury next week.

Authorities say Nava slammed into the back of Leslie Roquez's car on U.S. 395 Wednesday night.

The woman's 7-year-old daughter Teleeya was buckled in a booster seat but was killed at the scene.

Roquez was flown to a Portland hospital where she is now improving.
