Local jails grapple with rising food prices

TRI-CITIES, Wash. -- KEPR checked in at how rising food costs are affecting local jails.
Much like our school districts, the Benton County Jail operates under long-term contracts for food services.
It's allowed the jail to save about $20,000 in reduced food costs.
Meantime, Franklin County still does food service on its own.
We're told there's been a slight increase in costs -- but the jail budgeted enough money for food where it hasn't been an issue.
