Lewis-McChord cargo plane assists Sandy relief

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) - A cargo plane from Joint Base Lewis-McChord departed Thursday to support superstorm Sandy relief efforts.

The 62nd Airlift Wing says one of its C-17 Globemasters is helping move passengers and cargo from March Air Reserve Base, Calif., to Stewart Air National Guard Base, Newburgh, N.Y.

The cargo includes Southern California Edison utility vehicles that will help restore power in the stricken region.
