KENNEWICK, Wash. -- KEPR learned Kennewick Fire is now the only local emergency response team with state-of-the-art defibrillators.

The new devices give paramedics real-time information and an exact readout of how much pressure needs to be given for CPR. It also sends the patient's heart information directly to the hospital he or she is going in real time as they are being worked on. The units were already used three times last week and all three people survived.

"This machine gives the best possible information and the best possible therapies to give that person the best chance of survival," says Captain Eric Nilson.

KEPR learned these new defibrillators have increased resuscitation rates nearly 50 percent since put into use nation-wide.
