Kennewick Couple attacked by pit bulls

BENTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE -- At about 8pm on December 30th, Deputies and Medics were dispatched to the 1000 block of S. Gum Street after two Pit Bulls attacked a husband and wife who live in the area. Patrol Deputies and Medics arrived in the area and found the two dogs had fled. The husband and wife sustained severe injuries, but the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

While Medics were attending to the victims, the two Pit Bulls returned and attacked a Deputy. The Deputy shot both dogs in defense of himself and others present. Both dogs were hit and ran to a nearby home, where it is believed the animals live. The Deputy followed the dogs and had to put them down as they remained aggressive and could not be secured.

The incident is still under investigation and the case has been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for review of criminal charges against the dogs owner.
