Inmate commits suicide at Benton Co. Jail

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -- An inmate at the Benton County Jail died after committing suicide in his cell.
Christopher Britton was only locked up since Saturday.
He was being held on charges of obstructing law enforcement.
Deputies say he was in a special cell after threatening to kill himself, but still managed to follow through with it minutes after a mandatory head count.
Britton was able to hang himself despite the jail's precautions against suicide.
The sheriff tells KEPR no changes will be made in the aftermath of Britton's suicide.
This was the Benton County jail's first suicide in at least three years.
