Illegal blue lights in Kennewick
KENNEWICK - If you're outfitting your *exisiting car, you might want to be careful. Police say illegal blue lights can distract oncoming traffic because they're just so bright.

Officers test a headlight by putting a white piece of paper in front of the light. If it emits a blue color, you'll get a ticket.

"Some of those lights - will specifically say - not for highway use - not approved - not DOT approved. Things like that in the small print. But people will buy them anyway because they look cool," said Kennewick Police Sergeant Ken Lattin.

And the fines are stiff. We're told a ticket for a blue headlight costs $124.
