BENTON CITY, Wash. -- KEPR is following up on a horse that was found dumped alongside a highway in Benton City. The horse was near death after months of abuse and neglect. Three months later - Miracle is on the road to recovery.

A vet says the neglect of the horse took a long time. She isn't easily spooked in her new surroundings.

"You can drive the tractor around her. The neighbors' cats have climbed on her back, and gone to sleep. The chickens, the turkeys - she just says, 'Hello, I'm here, just love me,'" said rescuer Kay Zirkel.

The family still hopes to get her an X-ray for a potential hip injury. They can't afford it right now. If you want to help, call Kay Zirkel directly at (509) 366-0068.

Kay also has a PayPal account set up for donations for Miracle. The account is under her name - Kay Zirkel.
