Homeowner finds man trying to break in to his house

BENTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S NEWS RELEASE -- On June 26th at about 8:55 am Patrol Deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress in the 200000 Block of E. Finley Road. The Reporting Party, who is the homeowner, was startled to find an unknown male attempting to break into his home through a window. The homeowner confronted the suspect who ran to a nearby vehicle and fled the scene. The homeowner immediately called 911 and was able to provide a description of the suspect and his vehicle, a gold Honda.
At 9:06 am Benton County Sheriff’s Corporal Erik Magnuson was on patrol near Columbia Drive and Fruitland when he spotted a car matching the suspect’s description. He conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver and only occupant (David Tobias, 29 years of age). Mr. Tobias initially denied being involved in the crime, but when the victim was brought to the scene, he was able to positively identify Mr. Tobias as the suspect. Mr. Tobias was arrested and later booked into the Benton County Jail for Attempted Residential Burglary.
