HERMISTON - After a local Hermiston neighborhood got hit with graffiti you called KEPR to find out what was happening.
Action News learned graffiti is actually on the decline for Hermiston.
There have been less than 30 reports of it through the first half of the year. In total that's a drop of about half compared to last year, and a drop of more than 60% compared to two years ago.
“It's a little bit of a relief, but when it does happen it's just like, really?” said neighbor Erik Campos. “You just let that happen, wow some people really just don't care.”
Fellow neighbor Wesley Sowers added, “We feel safe, we feel safe and that's important especially to kids.”
Police say part of that drop is due to how quickly they clean up the graffiti. KEPR first told you about a new soda blaster police started using last fall to remove the paint. It's credited as one of the main reasons for the drop in taggings.
