HERMISTON POLICE NEWS RELEASE -- On the 23rd of June 2012, at approximately 9PM, it is alleged Jesse Lopez 20 years of age, of 4XX E Sunset Drive, Hermiston, was involved in an incident where a firearm was brandished. Officers from the Hermiston Police Department investigated the incident and began a search for Lopez.

The following evening around 9 PM, Lopez was contacted by officers in the area of the 200 block of East Beech Ave. Lopez was verbally aggressive with the officers and pulled away from being restrained. Lopez was eventually taken into custody with the assistance of the Oregon State Police and the utilization of a Taser.

Lopez was lodged at the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton and charged with Pointing a Firearm at Another, Menacing, and Resisting Arrest.

“Unfortunately the crimes Mr. Lopez was charged with were all misdemeanors yet his actions clearly show he is willing to elevate to criminal incidents where he displays his intolerance for the norms of our society. The Hermiston Police Department has arrested Mr. Lopez 8 times and charged him with 26 different things,” said Chief of Police Jason Edmiston.
