Gunshots lead to burglary arrest
KENNEWICK POLICE NEWS RELEASE -- On Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 6:59 PM Kennewick Police responded to a call of shots fired at 325 N Fillmore St Apt 3 in Kennewick. While on their way to the call the information was updated to a gun was pulled but not fired and the suspects fled in a white vehicle. An officer spotted the suspect vehicle at 10th and Edison St and the vehicle was stopped and the three suspects detained.

Investigating officers learned that Antoinette Candelaria, 26, and one of the suspects, Pedro Barragan, 29, have children together. Barragan was visiting their children and when Candelaria went to pick them up a verbal dispute took place and Barragan threatened to come to harm a third person. Candelaria warned Barragan not to come to her residence on Fillmore Street. A short time later, Barragan called and stated he was on his way to Candelaria’s apartment. Idalia Ortega, Candaleria and her boyfriend and her brother all waited outside for Barragan.

When Barragan arrived, he was accompanied by Jamie Ruiz and a 17 year old male. A confrontation ensued and Jamie Ruiz was accused of displaying a handgun. The two females fled to their apartment and as their two companions attempted to do so both Ruiz and Barragan attempted to enter the apartment. Barragan did gain entry and was pushed back out the door.

Ruiz, Barragan and the 17 year old male were all detained on charges of 1st Degree Burglary. No weapon has been located at this time.
