TRI-CITIES, Wash. -- Fireworks stands are starting to pop up around the Tri-Cities. Most will open their trailers next week.
But be careful what side of the river you're on. The rules and regulations change depending on the city.
In Pasco, Franklin County, Kennewick and Prosser.. It's easy to remember.. No fireworks allowed at all.
If you're in Richland, West Richland or Benton County..fireworks are legal, if they don't leave the ground. So no roman candles, bottle rockets or aerial spinners. And the police tell us..most of the fines are written after July 5th..when all fireworks are banned till the next year.
One woman tells KEPR, "They should enjoy the holiday. Get in the spirit of it. Its fun. Everyone loves them. Old people, young people, kids.. Everybody loves fireworks."
Anyone under 16 is banned from using or selling fireworks. There is a $250 fine.
