FRANKLIN COUNTY - KEPR is keeping track of your taxpayer dollars and safety. It's why we're following up on clerk collections in Franklin County.

We told you about the backlog of cases two years ago. Since then, commissioners approved two new positions there. Officials say it's helped turn collections much faster. Holding criminals more accountable.

Here are the numbers. Over a million dollars was collected last year. That's a 45% increase from the prior year. And up over 400% from a decade ago. Officials say holding people accountable keeps everyone safer.

"People fall off the radar. They're no longer in the area, and they're very mobile, going from county to county," said Franklin County Clerk Michael Killian.
