Five dogs saved from charred Benton City home
BENTON CITY -- KEPR is following up the devastating house fire that killed 16 dogs in Benton City.
Five dogs were trapped inside the house after the blaze.
They were finally rescued on Monday.
Only KEPR was on the scene as they were released from the vet's office.
Other than some scrapes and bruises, each dog is okay.
Their owner tells us it is the first piece of good news she's received in days.
"I wish we could've saved more (dogs) if we had help, but I'm so grateful for the lives of the five we did recover... and I can't say enough thank you to my friends and the people helping me," Linda Brown tells Action News.
Damage to Brown's home is $87,000.
She's now trying to get each of the dogs moved to a foster home.
Brown had been rescuing dogs and putting them up for adoption.
She says she plans to eventually restart her rescue work.
