The program is held at McNary Heights Elementary for four-year olds. The program is paid for with federal grants and students will also be provided free breakfast, lunch, and bussing to and from school. Staff say that so much is expected of kids, every bit of schooling helps.
"This is a way to fill that gap and ensure all students have a preschool opportunity available to them, so that all students can enter kinder ready with the skills they need," said Umatill School District Superintendent Heidi Sipe.
Preschool will begin September Ninth, with sessions running two days a week.
