Earplugs can kill? One local man's close call
UMATILLA COUNTY-- A disaster dodged in Umatilla County when a construction worker jumped out of the way of a train -- just in time.
The Sheriff's Office tells KEPR the man was on the back of a "road grader" with earplugs to protect his hearing.
He was clearing debris when he spotted the train coming at him.
He managed to leap from the grader just in time.
The grader wasn't as lucky -- but both it and the train have minor damage.
