WALLOWA COUNTY, Ore. -- Police arrested a former Wallowa County sheriff's deputy early Monday morning for shooting a man earlier that night.

Oregon State Police arrested Daniel Courtney, 47, who allegedly shot 53-year-old Randy Dickenson at a property on Williamson Road between Enterprise and Joseph.

Details of the shooting are limited. Officials said the two men are relatives.

Dickenson was transferred to a Boise hospital. Officials said he was shot at least once and is listed in critical condition.

Courtney was booked into Union County Jail for 2nd degree assault.

The sheriff's office asked OSP to take the lead on the case because Courtney is a former sheriff's deputy.
