BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -- The trial for a woman accused of killing a man while under the influence of prescription medications started back up after a week-long recess. The defense called their first witness Thursday.

Natalie Lincoln is charged with vehicular homicide in the death of 50-year-old Steven Covert. Prosecutors say she was under the influence of prescription drugs when she crossed the center line and hit him.

The defense started to argue Thursday that the 33-year-old had taken her prescription for years and never had an issue behind the wheel.

The defense will continue presenting its case Friday. Lincoln's doctor might take the stand.
