KENNEWICK-- The Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce along with the Tri-Cities Legislative Council are taking reservations for the Annual Legislative Trip to Olympia. The registration period for the trip will close tomorrow, Friday, January 27, 2012.
Participants for this year’s trip will have the opportunity to meet with lawmakers to promote the Tri-Cities Region for its business friendly atmosphere and recreational activities, and urge support for regional projects that benefit our community. This year’s trip will be February 16 - 17. Full package includes transportation, hotel, meals, and materials.
The Tri-City Legislative Council was formed 22 years ago to demonstrate a united front when promoting the Tri-Cities to elected leaders throughout the state. The purpose of the Tri-Cities Legislative Council is to share resources and avoid duplication of effort among the membership with respect to monitoring legislative information and events. The Tri-Cities Legislative Council provides a means to work cooperatively and speak with one voice for the Tri-Cities region on legislative issues.
Examples of success the council has had in Olympia:In 2007, “Fueling Washington with BioProducts” was one of our priority papers. This was a partnership between WSU/PNNL and Department of Agriculture - the outcome - BESL. Washington State University - Tri-Cities four year university – the Tri-Cities pulled together and spoke with one voice in Olympia – you now see the results in north Richland with our four year university. The Hanford Reach Interpretive Center - $2M was appropriated by Washington State in the FY 2005 – 2007 budget for this local project. Regional Public Facilities District (PFD) was formed to provide a pathway for regional aquatic and performing arts centers.
Cost for the full package (bus transportation, hotel, meals and reception) is $350, bus only is $60, hotel only is $145 and meals, materials and reception only is $180.
