Commercial burglaries up in Kennewick

KPD NEWS RELEASE -- Kennewick Police have seen a significant increase in the number of commercial burglaries since the beginning of 2013. This increase includes seven coffee shops, three physicians’ offices, two restaurants’, insurance offices and dental offices as well as a tavern, convenience store, auto service store and a quick cash store. There appears to be some similarities in about 21 of these burglaries and are similar to commercial burglaries in Pasco. 19 of the 21 incidents the method of entry was glass breakage. No suspects have been identified as of this time.

In most instances the suspects have taken cash left in the business overnight. Burglaries in Kennewick are clustered in several locations including Columbia Center Blvd, Clearwater Ave, Columbia Drive and 1st Ave in East Kennewick.

Businesses are reminded that no cash should be left inside their business over night. If you can think of a place to hide money, so can the burglar.
