Chemical leak closes roads around Moses Lake plant
MOSES LAKE, Wash. (AP) - The Grant County Sheriff's Office says conditions are improving around a Moses Lake silicon plant that suffered some sort of chemical leak on Friday morning.
People who work near the REC Silicon Inc. plant in Moses Lake are no longer being told to stay indoors and close doors and windows. And roads around the plant have been reopened.
Kyle Foreman of the Grant County Sheriff's Office says there have been no reports of injuries and the situation is returning to normal.
Foreman says officials are still trying to determine what was in the chemical plume that escaped from the plant Friday morning.
The plume briefly forced the closure of Interstate 90, but the highway is back open.
