CRIME TRACKER: Car thefts dominate new year in Tri-Cities
TRI-CITIES, Wash. -- The KEPR Crime Tracker is taking a look at car thefts in the Tri-Cities.

2014 is already off to a tumultuous start. Since New Year's Day, Kennewick has already seen 10 car thefts. A handful were clustered near W. Clearwater Ave. between Union Street and Highway 395.

Pasco and Richland have seen a handful of stolen cars a piece.

Police say the majority of stolen cars have been Hondas, but it's not just the large number that's raising their eyebrows.

"A lot of times we say these are leaving the area. looks like these are staying here. we're finding them here in town. we have a crew actively working in our city and we're dedicating all the resources we have to bring them to justice," says Kennewick Police Sgt. Ken Lattin.

Tri-Cities law enforcement says Hondas are usually the biggest targets because their parts are most valuable. A few arrests have been made.
