Pasco kindergartners wear specific colored bus tags to match the color sign where they line up, as well as the color sticker on the bus. The district started this system last year to lower the chance of a five or six year old ending up on the wrong bus. Not only are kids able to follow the color system, but they're also checked off on a list by the bus driver. It helps parents feel more assured putting little ones on a bus from school.
"I love it, it's a relief, it's a piece of mind to know that he has a tag on him that tells exactly where he's supposed to be, easy to distinguish...He gets on the right bus," said a kindergarten mom, Enid Flynn.
A couple years back, a kindergartner ended up getting off at the wrong stop and wandered the streets alone. The district reevaluated its system.
