It covers all land protected by the Department of Natural Resources.
There have been 35 wildfires so far this year. More than 400 acres have burned.
Some don't think a burn ban will help.
"People are a little smarter than the government," said Daniel Wheeler of Yakima. "So you think people aren't going to follow it or listen to it, no."
The use of gas and propane self-contained stoves and barbecues will still be allowed. The burn ban goes through September.
