Burglar caught; Hermiston hopes to hold career criminals accountable

HERMISTON, Ore. -- Hermiston police solved several burglaries with one arrest and chased another man around town.

Officers picked up Omar Escobedo for violating a restraining order.

His jewelry made cops figure he was part of a recent burglary. Now they've connected him to a couple more.

Escobedo was processed 16 times recently totaling 55 charges.

Under a new proposal suspects like this would be prosecuted by the county D.A. instead of the city's. The new plan is expected to hold career criminals more accountable.
