PASCO, Wash. -- Better fire response is coming to the Pasco Airport. We first told you about the new radio upgrades.

Now, we learned that new system is ready to go. Officials just need the okay from the FAA. Local fire departments will be added to the airport's radio frequency. Firefighters would get more details on flight emergencies, allowing them to be better prepared for a response.

"And we recognize that in a bad situation, they don't have time to switch from one radio to the next and repeat what's going on, so this is, it's a significant improvement in our commanding control and situational awareness capability," said Pasco Fire Chief Bob Gear.

Improvements only cost about five grand. That's relatively cheap, considering a single radio costs about a thousand dollars.
