WEST RICHLAND, Wash. -- A West Richland outreach organization is always working to help the homeless dogs in the area. Their name is ASAP: Adopt Shelter Animal Pets.

The group works with the city to get the dogs out of their shelter. The building does not have climate control and it doesn't have daily staff.

The outreach organization is holding an auction fundraiser called "Pawcasso" next month to raise money to build a new shelter. The event will auction off artwork from artists around the area, including students.

"We get very, very cold temperatures here; you know, 12 degrees to 112 degrees. And at that point, those animals are suffering. And, you know, the kennels are very, very small and they're unmanned. There's no one to make sure their water bowls are not tipped over. We want them out of the shelter and in a home," said ASAP's president Kelly Merrick.

The auction is May 17th at the Red Lion in Richland. Tickets are $25. It goes from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

You can buy tickets at:
- 4 Paws Dog Works, 2765 Kingsgate Way, Richland
- 3 Rivers Feed & Irrigation, 4390 W. Van Giesen St., West Richland
- Blylee's Animal Health Oasis, 8823 Sandifur Parkway, Pasco
- or online at www.ASAPWestRichland.com

Your $25 ticket includes dinner and a prize at the door.
