PASCO, Wash. -- Another mosquito pool has tested positive for West Nile virus, according to Franklin County Mosquito Control District. The pool is located about one mile northeast of Benton City.
Officials said this is the fifth pool to test positive in the county this season.
“While mosquito populations are beginning to decrease, this is the time of year West Nile virus is most prevalent. If you have to be outside during times of peak mosquito activity, we recommend that you wear long sleeve shirts and pants, as well as insect repellent containing DEET.” said David Dorsett, Franklin County Mosquito Control District Director.
The mosquito control district will treat the area from the ground and the sky for the rest of the season.
