KENNEWICK, Wash. - The new west Pasco library has not even been up and running for a full year, but the Mid Columbia Libraries are looking at ideas for a new branch.

Staff say they are looking to put a new branch in west Kennewick, near the Steptoe area. Due to the popularity of the west Pasco branch and the population increase in Kennewick, they say a third is needed. They hope to survey residents to see what kind of amenities residents would want, like a drive-thru or conference rooms.

"Looking to the future, we want a place that is convenient, that is a place they are already driving too or live near, ideally near a lot of retail, that way we can make the library material, CD's, DVD's, books, much more easier to check out," said Executive Director Kyle Cox.

Staff say if all plans go smoothly, they could see the library up and running within three years. This year they will be renovating three of the branches in Othello, Connell, and Prosser.
