Alleged burglar fights TV for 95-year-old victim's attention, loses

OCEAN SHORES, Wash. -- A burglar was able to smash out a window, steal money and run out the front door of an Ocean Shores home all without alerting the extremely hard of hearing 95-year-old watching TV in the living room, according to the Ocean Shores Police Department.

According to police, a witness called police around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when he saw a man breaking a window at a home in the 100 block of Chance ala Mer.

Officers arrived while the man was still inside the home and watched as he fled out the front door, running right past the elderly woman watching TV, according to police.

Officers caught up with the man and arrested him. According to police, he had money from the woman's house on him and was booked into Grays Harbor County Jail for investigation of burglary.

The woman told officers she was unaware the man had even been in her house.
