KID Board Votes to Fire Worker
KENNEWICK -- The KID Board of Directors decided to fire a worker after she was put on paid leave last week. The meeting took place behind closed doors. KID's attorney says, because Joetta Rupert reported directly to the board, it did not have to give a reason for her termination.

Fran Forgette added, "The board doesn't make a decision like this lightly. They look at these things carefully. This was their determination as to how best to proceed and it was a unanimous decision."

Last week, KEPR action news discovered Rupert was put on leave after the board was upset she used sick time to attend her own personal injury trial. Rupert argued the trial still met the standard for sick time under the employee handbook.

Rupert managed the realty division and had been with KID for seven years. To make sure this story was balanced, we also tried to talk to Rupert but she did not want to go on camera.
